Morrell spent his first years at Nike developing and launching Nike’s disruptive wearables business, the FuelBand product. From there, he ascended in leadership to Senior Category Business Director and finally to Vice President, Strategy and Operations, and Design (COO-Design) where he spent his last six years at the company. In the COO role, he oversaw Nike’s 700+ person design organization with responsibility for driving its business and creative strategy, managing its annual operating budget, and leading its 30+ person Strategy and Operations team.
After taking a step away from Nike in the summer of 2021, Morrell is set to find his next challenge from his new roots in Austin, Texas.
“My family was ready for our next adventure, a new chapter,” he said. Morrell described the new stage of his career as the ability and luxury to take a step back in order to take a step forward.
With a keen eye for new ideas and products, Morrell quickly gravitated to Screen Skinz and the technology behind the product after seeing it in person. Pairing his initial attraction to the immense passion and care behind the brand with both Co-Founders RaShaun Brown and Clay Canning, Morrell was hooked.
“ I was impressed by both of their poise, confidence, and innovation and how quickly they have moved,” he said. “It speaks to their passion and commitment that fuels them both and serves as the pillars that will set a great foundation moving forward.”
Morrell’s advisory role will allow him to help Screen Skinz move forward in its next stage of growth. He will assist the company in consulting, brand positioning and strategy, and help prepare the company for retail in 2022.
